Resumé of Michael Grau, Ph.D.

Dr. Grau is a Consulting Psychologist at Wildwood Institute. He also serves as Supervising Psychologist of the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic, and Langan School, at the Center for the Disabled in Albany, NY. He has a broad background working with individuals with disabilities of various types including all levels of mental retardation, autism, congenital, neurological and other developmental disorders. He has pursued additional training in neuropsychology and conducts neuropsychological evaluations and consultation at the Center for the Disabled. He has also served as a staff psychologist at Comprehensive Neuropsychological Services in Albany, NY. He is an approved provider of Community Integration Counseling and Intensive Behavior Programming services with the NYS Department of Health Traumatic Brain Injury Waiver program.

A major focus of Dr. Grau's work has been with school-age children, their families, and service agencies (e.g., schools, service coordinators, etc) in helping to determine and advocate for appropriate special education programming/services where needed. He brings a rare breadth and depth of experience in this area, having served as a Committee on Special Education (CSE) Chairman, CPSE Chairman, and School Psychologist in a major suburban district for 5 years, as well as his current practice as a private clinical psychologist/neuropsychologist conducting independent evaluations. He has also been a Guidance Counselor and Director of Middle and High School Guidance.

Dr. Grau has provided a variety of training/educational programs to parents, school and agency staff, and college students on positive behavior management strategies, crisis intervention, TBI, pervasive developmental disorders, CSE and special education services. He is on the adjunct faculty of the Education Department at the Sages Colleges, in Troy, NY. He is an OMRDD approved trainer of the Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP-R) curriculum.
