I Wish I Could Fly Like a Bird!
a different sort of story about
differences
- Can a chickadee child and a human boy find friendship
and trust?
- Who ARE those bully birds at the bus stop?
- And most curious of all, why WON'T Chic fly?
I Wish I Could Fly Like a Bird! is the first story
in a series about Chic L. Dee, a boy bird who flip-flops intead
of flying. (And that's pretty darn humiliating to a bird!) While
he struggles to accept his limitations, he begins to discover
his talents, trust his intuition, and find his own way. And learn
about making room for differences.
Any kid who has ever been taunted for being different, who
has ever felt embarrassed socially, who has ever resorted to
bravado in the face of shame will understand Chic. And love this
story!
Chic L. Dee's name says a lot about him. He has learning disabilities-commonly
shortened to "LD". Every kid-learning disabled or not-can
share his story about friendship, social pressure, and coping
with difference.
